About

Hi, I’m Geneilson Marques

Identity Security Engineer | CyberArk Specialist | Automation Enthusiast

I’m an Identity Security Engineer based in the Netherlands with over 27 years of experience in Information Technology and Identity & Access Management.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work across Brazil, Portugal, and the Netherlands, helping organizations design, implement, and maintain secure Identity Security solutions. Today, my primary focus is CyberArk Privileged Access Management, where I work with enterprise environments, automation, and complex infrastructure challenges.

This blog is where I document what I learn, share practical solutions, and publish technical guides that I wish I had when I started working with CyberArk.

What I do

My daily work revolves around designing, supporting, and improving Identity Security environments.

My main areas of expertise include:

  • CyberArk PAM
  • Privileged Access Management (PAM)
  • Identity Security
  • CyberArk Upgrades & Migrations
  • Vault High Availability
  • Secrets Management
  • Automation with PowerShell and Ansible
  • Active Directory Integration
  • PKI & Authentication
  • Troubleshooting complex production environments

My Approach

Technology evolves every day, but I believe one thing never changes:

The best engineer isn’t the one who knows every answer. It’s the one who understands the problem well enough to find the right solution.

Most of the articles published here come from real situations I’ve experienced while supporting enterprise Identity Security environments.

Instead of simply documenting how something works, I prefer explaining why it works, the challenges behind it, and the lessons learned along the way.

My Journey

My professional journey started in ERP administration before moving into Identity & Access Management, where I worked with NetIQ Identity Manager (formerly Novell) and enterprise IAM solutions.

Over the years, my career naturally evolved toward Identity Security and CyberArk, allowing me to work on architecture, implementations, upgrades, migrations, integrations, and automation projects across multiple industries.

Today, I work in the Netherlands, helping maintain and improve enterprise CyberArk environments while continuously expanding my knowledge in modern Identity Security.

Why This Blog Exists

I created this blog because I believe practical knowledge should be shared.

Many technical articles focus only on installation steps. My goal is different.

I want to explain:

  • why a solution works
  • common mistakes
  • lessons learned
  • real production scenarios
  • automation ideas
  • best practices

Whether you’re deploying your first CyberArk lab or troubleshooting an enterprise production environment, I hope you’ll find something useful here.

Certifications

Current certifications include:

  • CyberArk Certified Defender
  • CyberArk Certified Sentry
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Information Systems Degree

I’m also continuously investing in new certifications and hands-on learning to stay current with the evolving Identity Security landscape.

Beyond Work

When I’m not working with Identity Security, you’ll usually find me:

  • Building new CyberArk home lab environments
  • Exploring automation projects
  • Writing technical articles
  • Learning new Identity Security technologies
  • Spending time with my family while discovering life in the Netherlands
